Whew!!!

So I finished my trial month at Curves on Wednesday. I haven't actually lost any weight yet, but I have made some progress. During the month I lost a total of 2 1/2". I'd like to say that all came off one place, but maybe in another couple months. The most I lost was 1" off my thighs. That was encouraging. The rest was 1/2" or 1/4" off here and there. But there were losses, however minor, everywhere I was measured. The other advantages I've noticed have not been outward, but have been very nice. My endurance is up, I don't get as tired overall. That is very helpful now that the kids are all home all day. Also, my mood has been noticeably better. Again, a plus when dealing with the kids. So overall I think Curves is working out pretty well for me, and after Friday, I think it will be even better. I signed up as a regular member and now I have this little computer chip that I plug into each machine as I work out. It keeps track of your personal capabilities and tells you if you are staying at the correct level of intensity. It tells you if your heart rate is in the right range, if you aren't working hard enough, or if you are working too hard. Then at the end of your workout, you plug it into the computer and it will tell you which muscle groups you worked the most, and which you need to improve on, which machines you need to improve on, etc. It's really cool.
I thought I was working hard before I was using this system, I always felt like I was getting a good workout. But man, it was nothing compared to when I was using the computer chip. I burned 450 calories in 30 minutes. That was fun to see.
O.k., so I replenished those calories and then some when we went to the drive-in later that night, but still.
Anyway, this sounds like a Curves commercial. It's not, and I don't think it's for everyone. But it seems to be working for me. We'll see how I do this month.

  1. Hmm, sounds like it might be worth it. There is one close enough to ride my bike to. That is if I ever get it over the the shop to get the seat fixed.

  2. One thing, you have to commit to a year when you sign up to be a member. So look online for special deals or ask when you go in if you can do a trial period to see if it will work out for you before you commit.

  3. Oh, and the initial sign up fee is atrocious, $199. Our Curves here is doing a half off thing though, so it was only $100, plus they rolled the $30 I had paid for the study month in to that so I ended up paying $69 then I got the first month free so I don't pay the $34 monthly fee til July. So ask for any deals before you pay the normal price.

  4. Wow, well I guess I'll continue my home work outs. That's just more than I can do right now.
