I'm Back

Blah. I gave up on our trip to Arizona, and when we got back, I haven't even had time to cook a meal this week. I'm sick of eating out-there really aren't any good choices unless you have a bun and piece of grilled chicken. That gets old. Hopefully things will slow down now, and I can get back on track and start over. I've gained a little back, but not too much. I'm still only wearing my fat pants though-and want to get rid of them as soon as possible.

How does Curves work? I know it is more than a gym, but haven't tried them.

  1. The Curves workout is a series of strength training machines alternated by cardio recovery stations. You spend 30 seconds on each station and go around all of them twice. Each machine works out a different group of muscles. So by the times you go through the whole circuit your heart rate is up and you have worked out every major group of muscles in your body. They suggest you do the workout 3 times a week. You can do extra cardio in between workouts if you want, but you aren't supposed to do strength training on the same muscles two days in a row.
If you do the Curves Smart membership (It's $34 at the Curves here, I don't now if that price is the same in all areas) they give you this little computer chip thing that you plug into each machine as you use it. They set it up to customize the workout to your range of motion and strength ability and then each machine will tell you if you are working hard enough to reach your target goals. Then as you get stronger, it automatically pushes you harder. It's pretty cool. I really like that it is quick, but that I can really feel it working. If you want to get an idea of how the machines work, you can go to their website. (curvesinformation.com) Anyway, I've been twice now. They too all my measurements and stuff at the beginning and they will do so again after 4 weeks. I'll let you know my progress and if I feel it was worth it at the end of the month.
