Portion control
When I was dieting a year or so ago, and lost a bunch of weight, I was tracking all the calories I ate. That was kind of a pain, especially for meals I cooked myself, but one thing I found was the portion control was the most important. For almost everything I made, about 1/2 cup of the food was the right amount. This was for a 1500-1600 calorie/day diet. When I'm ready to diet again, I think I'll just look at the amount, rather than calculating the exact calories, and see if that works. In the beginning, I was still hungry after eating, but I found that if I waited just a bit, and maybe drank some water, I wasn't so hungry anymore, and then my body adjusted to that much food, and I didn't get so hungry any more. Of course, I've overturned all the good habits I formed with this pregnancy, so I'll be starting all over again. Yuck.

I know what you mean. Everything thing I worked for last year went right out the window when I got pregnant.
